We come together to celebrate the long significance of Quakers in this world and the many gifts shared throughout history.
This year we will celebrate after worship with a short film called Petty’s Island. This film is part of a Precious Places oral history project telling stories of our communities.
Funded by Philadelphia’s Scribe Video Center, the film reveals the legacy of an island’s historic encounter with Africans, Europeans and Native Americans in the Philadelphia, New Jersey region. Filmed, in part, at Newton Meeting it examines the Quaker efforts to secure safe passage for escaped slaves.
