Leaders of the #PoorPeoplesCampaign will discuss how Friends and others can take action for economic, racial and gender justice. AFSC was one of the principal endorsers of the Poor People’s Campaign in 1968, which mobilized tens of thousands of people across the U.S. to demand economic justice for all.
Early on Rev, Dr. Martin Luther King sought help from AFSC citing his gratitude for “the devotion, cooperation and help accorded us in the past.” Although King was assassinated just weeks before the event, a renewed Poor People’s Campaign carries forward his legacy.
Today AFSC is again supporting this work, inviting community members and resources to respond to this national call for moral revival and economic equality. Link Here:
